Bill Clinton vs Peter Jennings on November 18, 2004

The network news anchors usually stay away from controversy. So last night [Thursday, November 18] when Peter Jennings (search) questioned Bill Clinton (search) about how historians have ranked his moral authority, eyebrows went up. Here's some of what happened.

PETER JENNINGS, "PRIMETIME LIVE": They gave you a 41st on moral authority.
BILL CLINTON, FMR. PRESIDENT: They're wrong about that.
JENNINGS: After Nixon.
CLINTON: They're wrong about that. Do you know why they're wrong about it? They're wrong about it.
JENNINGS: Why, sir?
CLINTON: Because we had $100 million spent against us and all of these inspections. And in spite of it all, you don't have any example where I ever lied to the American people about my job, whether I ever let the American people down. And I had more support from the world and world leaders and people around the world when I quit than when I started. And I will go to my grave being at peace about it. And I don't really care what they think.
JENNINGS: Oh yes, you do.
CLINTON: They have no...
JENNINGS: Oh, excuse me, Mr. President, you can, I can feel it across the room.
CLINTON: No, no, I care...
JENNINGS: You care very deeply.
CLINTON: I care, you don't want to go there, Peter. You don't want to go there, not after what you people did and the way you, your network, what you did with Kenneth Starr, the way your people repeated every little sleazy thing he leaked. No one has any idea what that's like

Well X-President Bubba, Peter Jennings said that Historians had ranked you as the Fifth Best American President in regard to "Public Persuasion and Economic Policies"! Will Bubba, as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces how can you claim to have been hamstrung by the Pentagon and the CIA in your quest to capture/kill Osama Bin Laden! As a Commander in Chief and as the "Fifth Best President of Public Persuasion" you should have used the Bully Pulpit of the Presidential Office to do what needed to be done. Didn't FDR and Truman do that? Truman a Democrat fired General MacArthur!

No you did not "Wag the Dog" but were just the Dog who Wagged your Finger while you held the Office of Presidency during an area of Properity made so by President Reagan and George H.W. Bush.

So Clinton talked tough. But he did not act tough. Indeed, a review of his years in office shows that each time the president was confronted with a major terrorist attack- the February 26, 1993, bombing of the World Trade Center, the Khobar Towers attack, the August 7, 1998, bombing of U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania, and the October 12, 2000, attack on the USS Cole- Clinton was preoccupied with his own political fortunes to an extent that precluded his giving serious and sustained attention to fighting terrorism.

X-President Bubba you should have Listened to your Political Advisor Dick Morris when you were worried about how Historians and Prosperity would look upon your 8 years as the Chief Executive of the Great United States of America:

Clinton then asked, "What do I need to do to be first tier?" "I said, 'You can't,'" Morris remembers. "'You have to win a war.'" Clinton then asked what he needed to do to make the second or third tier, and Morris outlined three goals. The first was successful welfare reform. The second was balancing the budget. And the third was an effective battle against terrorism. "I said the only one of the major goals he had not achieved was a war on terrorism," Morris says. Not only were you a lousy Warrior President you did not even fight hard for your Legacy when given the Chance to do something about the WTC bombing in 1993, Khobar Towers in 1996, Tanzania and Kenyan Embassy Bombings in 1998, and the USS Cole Bombing in 2000. X-President Bill "Bubba" Clinton you did your Middle Name Sake President Thomas Jefferson(who fought the Unconventioanl Barbary/Islamic Pirates) a diservice and Americans Died. However you are great when it comes to baggering interns like Monica Lewinski and News Reporters like Peter Jennings and Chris Wallace. Yes Mr. President Clinton you are the best Finger Puppet Ninja President we have ever had in the history of our Great Country.....
Bubba, to use your words to Chris Wallace, your Presidency was one of "False Pretenses....."
