Rhetorical Hammer Blows used by the Liberal are softened by a penchant for appealing to the personal rather than to logic or reason or HISTORY

I am truly grateful that I have a new and interested reader from Qwest Communications with the IP addresses listed below who has found my tiny little blog worthy of his/her time which has been significant. This reader has been leaving interesting comments on my site but typical from those who hate us conservatives more than the Radical Jihadists. For the Record I do not hate Liberals nor Jihadists but I will defend myself against Jihadists if need be and pray for both the misguided but well intention Liberal and Jihadist...

Kosovo and Iraq are two completely different situations you boob. In Kosovo there was a complete breakdown in the region and war and genocide were spreading rapidly killing innocent people. A clear humanitarian need to intervene existed then and apparently now too.
But, in Iraq a dictatorial maniac ruled and ruled basically in a peaceful society. When Hussein was committing genocide against the Kurds in the 80s, a time when we should have stopped him, the USA under Reagan and Bush Sr. looked the other way since he was engaged in a war with Iran. There are those famous pictures of Rumsfeld shaking hands with Hussein. We gave him weapons and money. Buddy buddies they were then even though it was well documented what Hussein was doing was morally reprehensible. Then after his invasion of Kuwait, he gets rid of his weapons of mass destruction and was trying to loosen up the international restrictions on oil sales. A dangerous nut perhaps, but no longer armed with deadly weapons and staying within his borders... so of course GW has to attack.. Now the Iraq region is a real mess... a mess that the USA created, not the international community... so why should the international community get involved when the US would not listen when they said not to invade. Why would the international community help out when the US ignored them.

We certainly need brain cells ... that is why Bush and his cronies need to go now... since obviously they are distinctly lacking in brain cells and the ability to intelligently use them. A brain dead Senator would demonstrate more intelligence than the morons in the executive branch right now. They stole the elections through fraud and ATTACKED a country without provocation. Clearly they need more neurons to see how morally wrong their actions have been.

  • The executive branch of the government is NOT a Royal Kingship no matter that this is how GW treats it. We currently have King George back from the days of the revolution and we need to reject him as vehemently as our forefathers did. This war is an atrocity perpetuated by a man that lied to the American public on the reasons to justify an unprovoked attack on another country. Nowhere is the lack of moral authority more clear than this brazen take over of the American democratic process by a group of people who hijacked and rigged elections and then started an unprovoked war. The clear and present danger created by this war is that there is now a quagmire in a country where the real interests were oil, revenge, and attempted colonization and not the security of America. This war has emboldened and enhanced funding for radical Islamic militants instead of defeating them. The death created by both sides is sickening and there is no end in site.

  • Your radical extreme right wing nutcase thinking is one of the major problems in this country. You quote obscure people or even proven liars that do not care for truth or represent an objective examination of the political nature of the world. You demonize all islamic people while somehow missing all the amoral behavior of supposed christians. You set up your thinking by not reading others nor examining your own narrow minded thinking. You somehow believe that christians have some kind of corner on divinity while ignoring recurring immoral depravity of christians and historic atrocities. No one can defend radical islamist nor can one defend radical christians.. they are different flavors of the same depraved thinking. The depraved killings by the serbian majority in portions of the former Yugoslavia you wish to ignore while somehow digging up obscure "facts" from documented apologists for Milosevic who wish to somehow equate hundreds of deaths by radical islamists to 10s of thousands of deaths by Serbian christians. The reality is that both were depraved groups but the genocide by the Serbs is unbelievable and totally indefensible

It would be much appreciated if the Liberal Minded visitor from QWEST who is frequenting my site would refrain from typical Ad Hominem tactics that the Left resorts to. My point is that Kosovo now needs outside help to keep it from becoming further destabilized, as does South Korea some 50 years after that war. Additionally Japan and Germany required a US Military Presence and we still have strategic Bases in those countries. Our precipitous withdrawal from Vietnam initiated by the Walter Cronkite resulted in the Khmer Rouge killing millions. However he calls me names because I have approached the subject from a historical perspective. Oh Anonymous Qwest reader by the way learn something about the Muslims I learn and read from at Mr Qwest have you ever heard of Kanan Makiya, Mansoor Ijaz, Amir Taheri, or how about my friends and USC alums Azzam and Suzie Alwash(scroll down) who are determined to salvage Iraq's priceless Mesopotamian marshland ecosystem and directors of the project.

I guess you don't like Churchill, Lewis, and certainly Aznar. How about Bassam Tibi, a Syrian immigrant who is the most prominent moderate Muslim in Germany, seemed to agree with Lewis's diagnosis, even while rejecting his emphasis. "Either Islam gets Europeanized, or Europe gets Islamized," Tibi wrote in Welt am Sonntag. Having spent much of the past decade arguing for the construction of sensible Islamic institutions in Europe, Tibi seemed to warn that Europe did not have the ability to reject Islam, or the opportunity to steer it. "The problem is not whether the majority of Europeans is Islamic," he added, "but rather which Islam--sharia Islam or Euro-Islam--is to dominate in Europe."

Perhaps not to your liking either then I refer you to this level headed Muslim Physician over the Muslims I read. This Muslim medical leader has provoked an outcry by urging British Muslims not to vaccinate their children against diseases such as measles, mumps and rubella because it is "un-Islamic".

Dr Abdul Majid Katme, head of the Islamic Medical Association, is telling Muslims that almost all vaccines contain products derived from animal and human tissue, which make them "haram", or unlawful for Muslims to take.

So Mr. Anonymous from Qwest don't go away mad just go away for you are one who can not debate without using epitaphs and aphorisms ala ad hominem. I know you believe I am a " radical extreme right wing nutcase thinking....supposed christian" but I am not the Decapitator who wants to perform a radical craniotomy and disconnect your head from your body because you do not agree with moi. However there is a segment of the Ummah who do not care if you are a Liberal or a Conservative and want to give you and I a modified crew cut. Over 3,000 innocent Americans and non-Americans but all Citizens of the World were slaughtered and incinerated by these Jihadists just like the Moderate Muslims of Kosovo were by the Radicals of their Faith. I guess that was George Bush's fault?.... Or was it Bill Clinton's fault? Of course it was neither's fault but only that of the Muslim fundamentalists. So whether you like it or not buddy we are on the same side and if not careful we'll end up on the same side of a Jihadist's Sword. Just read history fellow American. Remember Thomas Jefferson and the Barbery Pirates?

Here's another quote for you Anonymous form Qwest:

  • "an appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile hoping it will eat him last...." Winston Churchill

God Bless you Mr. Anonymous Qwester, all Americans and all Peace Loving Moderate Muslims. Dominus have Mercy on the Hate filled Jihadists. Like George Jorge Santayana said:

  • "Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. When change is absolute there remains no being to improve and no direction is set for possible improvement: and when experience is not retained, as among savages, infancy is perpetual. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. In the first stage of life the mind is frivolous and easily distracted, it misses progress by failing in consecutiveness and persistence. This is the condition of children and barbarians, in which instinct has learned nothing from experience."
  • The truth is cruel, but it can be loved, and it makes free those who have loved it!
Guess I'm just a "Boob and radical rightwing nutjob thinking christian" as are all the esteemed Muslims and Historical figures I read and quote are.
Well C'est la vie, mon chéri cause looks I am in good and interesting company.
Dominus Vobiscum Qwest Anonymous Person

I guess Wisnton Churchill was a Boob Too!

One my favorites,Winston Churchill spoke of a "Retrograde Force" which is now Globalized in our AGE.  On Benador Associates
  • Benador Associates(many are Muslim) is a public relations firm based in New York and Washington, specialized in the areas of media applied to politics, conflict resolution, the dialogue of civilizations, foreign policy, national security, anti-terrorism, defense of human rights and freedom of religion, among others.
I found this article written by David Pryce-Jones THE ISLAMIZATION OF EUROPE?  He quotes Churchill and others on the Islamic Problem.  Have you read this article?  If not it is worth a read,
One watchful observer was Winston Churchill, who wrote about Islam—or Mohammedanism as it was then called—in The River War (1899):
No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step, and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science . . . the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.
Other World Leaders and Experts have similar opinions on Islam.  The Morally Bankrupt and Anti-American UN and their Peace Keeping Forces Soldiers who Rape Women and Little Girls in Africa is not the Answer.
  1. Sam Solomen former Muslim and professor of Sharia Law, Sam Solomon, about the true nature of Islam and the significant threat it presents, not only to the western world in general, but specifically to all weak and sentimental forms of the Christian faith.
  2. Bernard Lewis in the Jerusalem Post  "Europeans are losing their own loyalties and their own self-confidence," he said. "They have no respect for their own culture." Europeans had "surrendered" on every issue with regard to Islam in a mood of "self-abasement," "political correctness" and "multi-culturalism," said Lewis, who was born in London to middle-class Jewish parents but has long lived in the United States....."All the evidence is that the regime is extremely unpopular with their own people," he said. "I am told that the Israeli daily [radio] program in Persian is widely listened to all over Iran with rapt attention." Israel and the West should also be looking to reach out to moderate forces within the Arab world, which are equally alarmed by the spread of extremism in their midst, said Lewis. "The Arab governments understand that Israel is not their biggest problem," said Lewis.
  3. Jose Maria Aznar mentioned twice on your show by Governor Mitt Romney last week and now Cliff May.  Here is an ironic comment he made about the absurdity and futility of the Elites' strategy of dealing with Muslims:
    1. From Eitb 24 Basque News and Information Channel:
      1. "Muslims should apologize for occupying Spain for 800 years and a U.N.-backed program to encourage dialog between them and West is stupid, former Spanish prime minister Jose Maria Aznar has said. Aznar made his comments Friday night in a speech at the Hudson Institute, a think tank in Washington, D.C., as he discussed Pope Benedict XVI's recent remarks on Islam and violence.
      2. Aznar, a firm ally of U.S. President George W. Bush and his war on terror, said the West is under attack from radical Islam and must defend itself. “It is them or it is us,” Aznar said. “There is no middle ground.” He did not elaborate. Aznar said he found it surprising that Muslims have demanded an apology from the pope over his Sept. 12 remarks.
      3. Aznar noted the nearly 800-year Moorish occupation of Spain that began in the year 711 with an invasion from North Africa. He said Muslims had never apologized for this but still demand apologies whenever they feel offended by remarks by non-Muslims. “It's absurd,” Aznar said.
      4. He also criticized an initiative launched last year by his Socialist successor, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, to encourage dialog between the West and Muslim countries."
Looks like a new visitor to my site think I am a "Boob"  because I spoke of Kosovo as a justification for the war in Iraq.  My point is and always has been that the fundamental problem we face with Terrorism is that that Radical Islam is the problem.  The late Milosevic was a Monster himself but the Radical Muslims were being killed by the Fundamentalist.
  • Barriot, who is a medical doctor, served as a humanitarian aid worker in Krajina. He worked with scores of Muslim refugees who fled from the 5th Corps of the B-H Army. These refugees were moderate Muslims who followed Fikret Abdic. They were assaulted by Izetbegovic's Islamist regime because of their friendly relations with the Serbs. This evidence directly contradicts the indictment. If the Serbs wanted ethnic purity why would they give safe haven to over 40,000 Muslim refugees?
Or here is another source that has Non MSM opinions but he is probably a "Boob" too because he is not an MSM automaton:
  • Of the various Yugoslav peoples, the Serbs were targeted for demonization because they were the largest nationality and the one most opposed to the breakup of Yugoslavia. But what of the atrocities they committed? All sides committed atrocities in the fighting that has been encouraged by the western powers over the last decade, but the reporting has been consistently one-sided. Grisly incidents of Croat and Muslim atrocities against the Serbs rarely made it into the U.S. press, and when they did they were accorded only passing mention. 1 Meanwhile Serb atrocities were played up and sometimes even fabricated, as we shall see. Recently, three Croatian generals were indicted by the Hague War Crimes Tribunal for the bombardment and deaths of Serbs in Krajina and elsewhere. Where were the U.S. television crews when these war crimes were being committed? John Ranz, chair of Survivors of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp, USA, asks: Where were the TV cameras when hundreds of Serbs were slaughtered by Muslims near Srebrenica? 2 The official line, faithfully parroted in the U.S. media, is that Bosnian Serb forces committed all the atrocities at Srebrenica.

I may disagree with my fellow Americans from the opposite side of the political spectrum from me but I do not want any harm to befall them nor do I want to resort to ad hominem attacks(typical of them although this is minor one by their standars). It is a crying shame that the Left uses personal attacks against us, their conservative countryman.  It seems as if the Left would rather have "OUR"  President taken our rather than Osama and those of his ilk.  How sad for we are all Americans and we have joined forces in the past when faced with Global Enemies during our short history.  The Jihadists are a new kind of enemy and a particularly pernicious, cunning and ruthless one who want to enslave us as Dhimmi at best or decapitate us regardless of whether we are Conservative or Liberal. We Liberals and Conservatives are not ENEMIES but sometimes I wonder if the Left thinks that we are the Enemy. The problem is not our Politics but our Nationality and Religion!
How about thinking outside the Box guarded by the Liberal Left's Group-Think Tank aka Mainstream Media's folks.....

Wobby Senators

The GOP has gone Wobbly on the GWOT.  I saw a report on the BBC, the EARL of the Liberal MSM, about Kosovo and it talked about the UN Blue Helmets needing to stay there to keep the peace for another 10 years!....Not all wars are equal I guess?  How about a Civil Rights Movement for War Torn areas that the US tries to help out.  Lady Thatcher and the late President Ronald Reagan we need that kind of leadership in today's boobie trapped World!
Like I've said before TERM LIMITS for these knocked knee US Senators who need to be weaned from the sour milk of the MSM!  To Both Houses of Congress:
"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!" -- Oliver Cromwell on the dismissal of the Rump Parliament (20 Apr 1653)

Congress is a Rump Parliment

To Both Houses of Congress:
"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!" -- Oliver Cromwell on the dismissal of the Rump Parliament (20 Apr 1653)
This captures my sentiments with Senators like Byrd, Warner, McCain, Kennedy, Collins, Hagel and almost the entire lot of them. Term Limits is the Answer for indeed you are a Rump Congress who desire to turn our 3 co-equal branches of System of Government into a Rump Parliament and remove the role of the Executive as Commander in Chief!
Most of the Senators and many Congressman are Rumps.  They are controlled by the stampeding hooves of the Jurrasic MSM which thinks that Wars will end if the United States Military is emasculated.  They MSM Elite are crazy because the Infidel Decapition Nick Berg and other American and Non-Muslim Jihad want us to be weaklings!
The GOP should vote on a Resolution which give the Present and Military to win as losing is not an OPTION!
AMERICANS love a Winner!  George C. Scott as Patton is the attitude that the GOP should have!
The MSM and Washington ELITES are dangerous because they think that their PC Dipolmacy will work with people who feel that their religion justifies this!.....

AVM Primer and the US Senate

Brain Injury Pathophysiology:  From Laura Ibsen, MD, FAAP; Oregon Health Sciences University Doernbecher Children's Hospital
Dr. Ibsen obtained her MD degree from UCSD then completed her Pediatric Residency at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD and her Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship at Boston Children's Hospital, Harvard School of Public Health.
  • (the cause including Trauma, Tumor, Stroke-Ischemic Hemorrhagic)
vs secondary injury is an essential component of cerebral resuscitation strategies. Neurons do not regenerate--once damaged and killed, they are gone. When they are damaged or die, they release excitatory amino acids, free radicals, leukotrienes, etc (LONG LIST), and these substances damage surrounding neurons and glia, and alter the integrity of the blood brain barrier, which can lead to vasogenic edema. In addition, local or generalized swelling/increased ICP can interfere with cerebral blood flow and cause ischemic damage.
  • There is virtually nothing that can be done to reverse the primary injury. Our focus during resuscitation and ongoing management is to prevent, as much as possible, secondary injury.
From St. Luke's Episcopal Medical Center at the Texas Medical Center in Houston
A stroke is always serious. Unlike cells in other parts of the body, those in the brain cannot be repaired or regenerated. It is the third leading cause of death in the US. About 160,000 Americans die of stroke each year, although mortality rates are declining. Studies have indicated that one-third of all strokes are fatal within the first 30 days.
Ischemic Versus Hemorrhagic Stroke. People who suffer ischemic strokes have a much better chance for survival than those who experience hemorrhagic strokes. And among the ischemic stroke categories, the greatest dangers are posed by embolic strokes, following by large-artery (thrombotic) and lacunar strokes.
Hemorrhagic stroke not only destroys brain cells, but it poses other complications as well, including increased pressure on the brain or spasms in the blood vessels, both of which can be very dangerous. (In one small study, however, survivors of hemorrhagic stroke had a greater chance for recovering function than those who suffered ischemic stroke.)
  • Indeed this is a rule of thumb I learned and remember from training and good news for not only Senator Tim Johnson but obviously and Hemorrhagic Stroke victim.  If one survives the initial neurologic insult they have a better chance of recovering function.  However, this is dependent on a number of factors including but limited to:
    • Intracranial Pressure spikes
    • hypo-perfusion of the Brain
    • Infections
    • Cerebral Edema
    • Location in the Brain of the Hemorrhage
    • Re-bleeds
    • Free Radical Formation
      • Cell Death. Other processes in the brain compound the damage. Researchers are working to discover the cycle of events involved in brain cell death after oxygen is lost.
        One hypothesis is as follows:
        • When blood is cut off in the brain, proteins known as excitatory amino acids (such as glutamate or glycine) are released.
        • They open channels in the membranes that cover neurons (brain cells) and allow large amounts of calcium to flow in.
        • Calcium reacts within the neurons to release harmful substances that damage cells.
Natural particles released by the body's chemical processes called oxygen-free radicals may also play a role in the cell damage caused by a stroke. (Some oxygen-free radicals under study are called lipid peroxides.)
Factors Affecting Recurrence. The risk for recurring stroke within five years is about 22%. The risk for recurrence for any stroke is highest within the first six months, so preventive measures should be instituted as soon as possible. Some specific risk factors for early recurrence are the following:
  • Being older.
  • Hemorrhagic or embolic stroke.
  • Diabetes.
  • Alcoholism.
  • Valvular heart disease.
  • Atrial fibrillation.
Long-Term Outlook for Survivors. Over half of stroke victims survive beyond five years. In general, however, a third of those who survive either an ischemic or hemorrhage stroke suffer some neurologic problems, and nearly all have at least some injury in the brain. On the encouraging side, about 90% of stroke survivors experience varying degrees of improvement after rehabilitation. Furthermore, one 1998 study reported that people who survived for many years after a stroke had a chance for independent living that was about the same as for their peers who had not suffered strokes. The stroke patients even appeared to be less depressed.
Loosing Brain Cells is obviously a bad bad thing.  The estimates of the number of brain cells humans are blessed is 100 billion Neurons. Obviously attrition does occur with age, as these brain cells die they are not replaced. With out any neurologic accidents we permanently lose about 100,000 daily, or close to 2 billion in half a century. Brain Injuries are very very bad and noxious conditions to survive and recover from to just carry out ADL's(Activites of Daily Living) working as an Executive at the Nations Capital is an entirely other matter.  Traditions are nice for Senatorial Princes and Princesses but we live in DANGEROUS TIMES and the Federal Government needs all the Brain Cells it can muster to steer the mines we face whether they be conservative or liberal minds is beside the point!  But what do I know as I have been rehabilitating injured minds for over a quarter century?...e=?~

Why Obama can not be President!

"According to Sharia, the group explained, apostates – those who leave Islam for another religion – must be killed. Union of Islamic Court leaders even have threatened to kill as apostates Muslims who are lax in their prayers, claiming this is commanded by Sharia. Several Muslims have been flogged publicly for drug-related offences since the union took control. "

Because of this Americans can not vote for Obama La Bamba because he will be held Hostage by his previous Religion!.....

Obama is La Bye Bye and out of the Race as President thanks to Mrs. Bill Clinton!

This is going to be a huge story uncovered by Mrs. Bill Clinton's(Hillary) dirt diggers and published in Insight Magazine that is going to change the landscape of the Democratic Race. Barack Hussein Obama downplayed his background and although the Jurassic Media who has crowned him their Home Coming King will not run with the story Hillary's supporters will. The problem with Obama La Bamba is that he was not up front about the story. Per the author of the this story when he questioned Obama's handlers about this they "Froze"! Another problem for Obama is that if you are Muslim and leave the Umma then your must be killed. If Obama does not come back to Islam he is Toast!
  • From Worldnet Daily "Convert from Islam to Christianity Killed"

Union of Islamic Court leaders even have threatened to kill as apostates Muslims who are lax in their prayers, claiming this is commanded by Sharia. Several Muslims have been flogged publicly for drug-related offences since the union took control. "

Americans will not vote for him once they know this. Hugh Hewitt has written a book(coming out in March) on Mitt Romney and I bet his background is squeeky clean. The race will be between Hillary and Mitt. Run Mitt Run!
Hillary's team has questions about Obama's Muslim background
Sen. Barack Obama approached the media after a meeting with President Bush at the White House on Jan. 5. (AFP/File/Mannie Garcia)
Are the American people ready for an elected president who was educated in a Madrassa as a young boy and has not been forthcoming about his Muslim heritage?
This is the question Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s camp is asking about Sen. Barack Obama.
An investigation of Mr. Obama by political opponents within the Democratic Party has discovered that Mr. Obama was raised as a Muslim by his stepfather in Indonesia. Sources close to the background check, which has not yet been released, said Mr. Obama, 45, spent at least four years in a so-called Madrassa, or Muslim seminary, in Indonesia.
"He was a Muslim, but he concealed it," the source said. "His opponents within the Democrats hope this will become a major issue in the campaign."
When contacted by Insight, Mr. Obama’s press secretary said he would consult with “his boss” and call back. He did not.
Sources said the background check, conducted by researchers connected to Senator Clinton, disclosed details of Mr. Obama's Muslim past. The sources said the Clinton camp concluded the Illinois Democrat concealed his prior Muslim faith and education.
"The background investigation will provide major ammunition to his opponents," the source said. "The idea is to show Obama as deceptive."
In two best-selling autobiographies—"The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream" and "Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance"—Mr. Obama, born in Honolulu where his parents met, mentions but does not expand on his Muslim background, alluding only to his attendance at a "predominantly Muslim school."

From NRO the Corner on January 18, 2007
  • Not Sure What to Make of this [Jonah Goldberg]
Would the Hillary people really leak this to Insight? Is it true? Does it matter? The whole thing strikes me as fishy. Here's the opener:

Senator Tim Johnson Update

  • NPR Host Asks If Sen. Johnson's Family 'Has The Right' To Ruin Dem Majority

  • Posted by Tim Graham on December 18, 2006 - 13:29.
  • Monday's first hour of National Public Radio's Diane Rehm show out of Washington focused on the health and political ramifications of Sen. Tim Johnson's brain surgery. Guests were Norman Ornstein of the American Enterprise Institute and CNN medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Early in the show (about 7 and a half minutes in), Rehm grew a little crass, asking if Sen. Johnson's family could ruin the slender majority the Democrats hold in the upper chamber. Consider this through the lens of the Terri Schiavo debate, and see the liberal flip-flop coming:
    • Rehm: "What if Johnson's family were to say "Tim Johnson can no longer serve"? Do they have the right to do that?"
    • Ornstein: "Uh, basically, no. I suppose you can imagine a set of circumstances under which he was in such awful condition, clearly deteriorating, moving towards death, where there might be a broader consensus in the Senate and in the society, but otherwise, no. It's within his control. And again, we've had examples in the past where family members wanted to cut those ties, end the kind of torture, in a way, they were going through, but do not have the legal authority to do so."
  • Can you imagine the spectacle if the Johnson family wanted a certain course of care for Senator Johnson, and the Michael Schiavo Democrats were saying no, the guardians have no say? Didn't they want the Washington politicians out of the debate?
"The two-week period is longer than I would be happy with," he said.
Dr. Siller shares my pessimestic view and director of the Comprehensive Stroke Care Center at NYU Medical Center and assistant professor at the NYU School of Medicine.
With regard to my comments about Senator Pinkie(his nickname since childhood was "Pinky."[1] )Reid, I listened closely to his comments and they were at the very least misleading and at worst a lie(in political parlance disingenuous).
  • 'In the most detailed update yet on Johnson's condition, his doctor said a test Wednesday revealed no evidence the tangled arteries that triggered the senator's stroke remain. "This angiogram shows that there is no further surgery needed AT THIS TIME," Dr. Vivek Deshmukh said in a statement released by Johnson's office.
  • The doctor said Johnson no longer needs a ventilator full time. "His breathing has steadily improved and now he only requires ventilator assistance at night," said Deshmukh, the neurosurgeon treating the senator.
  • "His long-term prognosis is unclear". Deshmukh said his recovery is expected to take several months.
  • The senator "continues to be responsive to both his family and physicians — following commands, squeezing his wife's hand, and understanding speech," Deshmukh said.
  • The statement said his overall medical condition has improved steadily. "The next phase of his recovery is expected to take several months and focus upon rehabilitation and physical therapy," according to the statement.'

Yes I am a Conservative American but I have 21 years of experience with Brain Injury and what I am hearing does not sound good. He is on a ventilator at night and still in a Critical Care sitting or (ICU) 23 days after his surgery and that is not good. The Neurosurgeon indicated that the Angiogram indicates he does not need "Surgery AT THIS TIME". His doctor did not say he will not need surgery in the FUTURE!
"It probably is not over," Dr. William Bank(who treats AVMs and other neurovascular disorders at Washington Hospital Center) added. "For a complete removal of an AVM, you need to be doing your surgery under ideal circumstances," not when the defect is actively bleeding.
I have backed up my experiential and written opinions with documentation from medical literature, medical websites and lay websites. I'll close with the comment placed on my website from a reader:
Carmen writes on 1/5/2007 after reading my post regarding AVMs:
  • "My sister had a minor leak from an AVM and though she recovered, has short term memory problems and seizures. While I love her very much, she can no longer hold a job due to her memory issues/seizures. I would guess that Mr Johnson is not going to come out of this without some sort of brain dysfunction. He's been down way too long! God bless him and his family."
South Dakota have your Governor appoint a Democrat and that well be better than this situation. A Democrat who has the ability to think will be better for the country than one who has had brain damage to the extent of our Senator from South Dakota. I"m just a messenger with expertise in this area of Medicine. Of course my opinions must be tempered by the fact that I am not his Attending Physician but I do have the ability to make inferences based on what has been released to the press. The good Senator was recently moved from the ICU, on the ventilator part time and minimally responding to the family and Physicians more than 3 weeks out from the injury. That is not a good sign!
18-30% of people with an AVM bleed have a re-bleed within the first year, sorry if that offends you. Have your Republican governor, Mike Rounds, appoint a Democratic replacement as this will more likely be better than hanging on to Tim Johnson, sorry it that offends you. The GOP members of the Senate for the most part are kinda weak and did not conduct themselves in a robust manner while in the majority so a 50-50 split will not change much in my opinion, sorry if that offends you. I marvel at the robust strength of Schumer, Durbin, Reid, Kennedy, Boxer and Kohl when they were in the minority and fought hard for every inch and only wish the GOP Senators were fighters like them.
I could be wrong and I hope so but the "Preponderance of the Evidence" as floated by the Physicians and Media, my professional knowledge and experience cause me to believe that the prognosis for full recovery is poor. Additionally a medium level of proof or standard known as clear and convincing evidence is satisfied by what I have read about the Senator's progress to date. Sorry to apply these legal principles but I like them because they reflect and are based on simple tried and true common sense. The on Thune Watch readers are correct in noting I am not the Attending Physician. However, I have expertise about the pathophysiology of Brain Injury and rules of thumb apply whether you like them or not.
Again I like to say let the Governor of South Dakota put in an Independent or a Democrat but some one who is Neurologically capable of performing the job of "An American Senator" not a South Dakota Senator who happens to be a Democrat. Again, I wonder how many of these people who have questioned my opinions would hire a Lawyer to represent them in a suit if that person was in Senator Johnson's condition? Would these people let a family member be treated by a Surgeon who was in Senator's Condition? However the Senator gets appointed a two new Appropriations Subcommittees, the Interior Appropriations Subcommittee and the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee. Johnson will continue to serve as a member of the Agriculture and Rural Development Appropriations Subcommittee, the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee, and the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee. Last week, Johnson was named Chairman of the Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee.
  • By MARY CLARE JALONICK, Associated Press Writer Thu Jan 11, 5:15 PM ET
  • WASHINGTON - Sen. Tim Johnson (, , ) has been transferred out of intensive care and has said some words, his doctor said Thursday, nearly a month after the South Dakota Democrat suffered a brain hemorrhage.
  • "This is confirmed by the fact that he is following commands and has started to say words," Deshmukh said in a statement released by Johnson's office.
  • Johnson's doctors have said that when he arrived at the hospital, he was feeling weakness on his right side, and that condition will require physical therapy.
  • "It is clear that he understands that people are introducing themselves, he is looking at name badges to try and associate it with the person, he is saying words and responding to commands," she said. "It's clear the electricity is on and the system is humming."
  • "The fact that Tim is beginning to use words is remarkable as is his strength and determination," said his wife, Barb Johnson, in the statement. "He even maintains his sense of humor when I share e-mails about his grandsons' adventures."
    • Good for the Senator and his family as it sounds like he is out of the woods medically but I still do not think he should serve Americans after he has suffered a severe Neurologic Injury aka Brain Damage. In many states his Physician would be required to alert the Department of Motor Vehicles of a patient with a Brain Injury. However in this situation he is appointed to the Chairmanship of Appropriations Committee's subcommittee on military construction and veterans affairs. This is inappropriate folks but the Democrats want power so BAD it is okay? I wish Senator Johnson and his family God's speed! America still needs a capable and non-Brain Injured Senator to work our Capital for not only South Dakotans and all Americans as well....

The Left and its Vietnam Strategy for the US Military in Iraq

The goal of the Left is to castrate the powerful US Military! If the Jurrassic Main Stream Media and its cohorts(Elites, Democrats and Academics)are successful at portraying Iraq as a failure like they did with Vietnam they will achieve this goal. I believe the Left's rational is that if they stigmatize the concept of war in this negative manner any future US President will forever be reluctant and will forever be gun shy to use our Military. The concept of the Commander in Chief's role will be so weakened that we will in effect become a Parliamentary system with an Executive Branch that is Psychologically damaged and scarred over the concept of War. The Military will be relegated to act only on behave of the United Nations. Remember John Kerry said he wanted this years ago to Harvard University The Crimson:
        • "I'm an internationalist. I'd like to see our troops dispersed through the world only at the directive of the United Nations."

This would be a disaster and the US Military will be furthered hollowed out worse than it was under Carter and Clinton. Yes our once great US Military will become IL CASTRATI!

Why, does the left want to do this? Because the Left believes that the US Military is made up of Yahoos and is contributes to destablizing the world. They believe if we feminize ourselves the community of World Nations will get along. The Left is so so Misguided and God Help us if they pull off this contrived metamorphosis of our govenmental system and succed at coring out our Department of Defence formerly known as the War Department! This reminds me of CS Lewis's Screwtape Letters to Wormword......
We need to have clarity for the issues of this age....

Pentagon's New Map, TPM Barnett and Hugh Hewitt

Hugh Hewitt is interviewing a very smart Thomas PM Barnett the author of a The Pentagon's New Map. Barnett is smart guy who has some innovative ideas and new terminology which he has fallen in love with. Connectivity( code for Global Economy and Communications), rule sets(social, conventional war and geopolitical norms)

        from Wikipedia
        • the idea of "rule sets," the combination of written and unwritten rules that people within a region use. It has been noted that countries that have similar rule sets tend to collaborate much more effectively than countries that have significant differences. For instance, the U.S. and Soviet Union had rule sets that were very different. Once the Soviets lost control, the country went through a "rule set reset," organizing itself to more closely align with the largely democratic and capitalist societies it had once opposed.
, core and gap states(countries participating in the Global economy and those that are on the fringe respectively), Leviathan force(US type Special Ops and Marine fast strike military expeditionary force which can take out a target and rogue regime, System Administration (force is the large UN/Multinational peace keeping & mop force which allows for the toppled country get up and running). The jargon he has developed add intrigue and flare to his ideas presented in a flashy power-point present with sound effects included, allowing him to present his Political Science theories and his foreign policy models evolving from them. He fancies himself the new about Norman Angell, a British Labor Party Politician of the early 1900's who claimed that Core States would not go to war because they were dependent on each other economically.

        From Wikipedia
        • He(Angell) is most widely remembered for his work of 1909, Europe's Optical Illusion, known as The Great Illusion in America. The pacifist movie The Grand Illusion was deliberately given its title in reference to his book. The thesis of that work is commonly (and incorrectly) described as saying that the integration of the economies of European countries had grown to such a degree that war between them was unimaginable, making militarism obsolete. However this is not what Angell actually argued. His central argument was that war between modern powers was futile in the sense that no matter what the outcome, he thought both the losing and the victorious nations would be economically worse off than they would have been had they avoided war. Some have contested that the two World Wars that took place after The Great Illusion was published were in fact a tragic confirmation of his thesis. Other historians have argued that Angell disregarded the reality of the complex situation in Europe with its alliances, hatreds and rivalries between nations and therefore he was being Utopian.
Barnett has great ideas and a great presentation but his support of John Kerry for president and complaints about President George Bush making to many enemies does not chive with good and innovative ideas. John Kerry would never support his Military Leviathan force ideas(which reminds me of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld ideas) and the World will not cooperate with the System Administration Peace keeping Force and the Al Qaeda types are coming out of the wood work because they have always been there and Europe(which is dying our "Eurabia") will not fight back and is "Mad at Us"!

He thinks that Aircraft Carriers are Obsolete but would keep them because they are cool

        From Hugh Hewitt interview:
        • TB: Well, I wouldn’t get rid of carriers, because they’re so cool, and because they’re so versatile, and they last for almost ever. I would have fewer submarines, I would keep an eye on the Chinese submarine development, but I could go…and it’s hard to go much less than we have now. What we need to get, though, is to understand that we need to, and you see the current chief of naval operations making this argument for a thousand ship navy, we need to think the many and the cheap, instead of the few and the absurdly expensive, and I would argue, the absurdly vulnerable.
Well TPM Barnett how do we defend the Globalization and Connectivity without a powerful Navy when the World Merchant's >50,000 Ship Navy Fleet is threatened Modern day Pirates and targeted by Islamic Terrorist groups written about in a 2004 Foreign Affairs article. Pirates attacks are increasing at an alarming rate. :

        • The total damage caused by piracy-due to losses of ships and cargo and to rising insurance costs-now amounts to $16 billion per year.
          • Since the attacks of September 11, 2001, security experts have frequently invoked a 200-year-old model to guide leaders contending with the threat of Islamic terrorism: the war on piracy.
          • Such experts, however, fail to realize that the popular perception that the international community has eliminated sea piracy is far from true. Not only has piracy never been eradicated, but the number of pirate attacks on ships has also tripled in the past decade-putting piracy at its highest level in modern history. And contrary to the stereotype, today's pirates are often trained fighters aboard speedboats equipped with satellite phones and global positioning systems and armed with automatic weapons, antitank missiles, and grenades.
          • Most disturbingly, the scourges of piracy and terrorism are increasingly intertwined: piracy on the high seas is becoming a key tactic of terrorist groups. Unlike the pirates of old, whose sole objective was quick commercial gain, many of today's pirates are maritime terrorists with an ideological bent and a broad political agenda. This nexus of piracy and terrorism is especially dangerous for energy markets: most of the world's oil and gas is shipped through the world's most piracy-infested waters.
          • Water covers almost three-quarters of the globe and is home to roughly 50,000 large ships, which carry 80 percent of the world's traded cargo. The sea has always been an anarchic domain. Unlike land and air, it is barely policed, even today.
          • Since many shipping companies do not report incidents of piracy, for fear of raising their insurance premiums and prompting protracted, time-consuming investigations, the precise extent of piracy is unknown. But statistics from the International Maritime Bureau (IMB), a piracy watchdog, suggest that both the frequency and the violence of acts of piracy have increased in recent years. In 2003, ship owners reported 445 attacks, in which 92 seafarers were killed or reported missing and 359 were assaulted and taken hostage. (Ships were hijacked in 19 of these cases and boarded in 311.) From 2002 to 2003, the number of those killed and taken hostage in attacks nearly doubled. Pirates have also increased their tactical sophistication, often surrounding a target ship with several boats and firing machine guns and antitank missiles to force it to stop. As Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Tony Tan recently warned, "piracy is entering a new phase; recent attacks have been conducted with almost military precision. The perpetrators are well-trained, have well laid out plans." The total damage caused by piracy-due to losses of ships and cargo and to rising insurance costs-now amounts to $16 billion per year.

        • Beware, sailor - pirates be about: Armed with machine guns, rifles, machetes and knives, marauding bands of robbers slithered onto hundreds of ships last year, harassing, assaulting and even killing crew members before making off with untold fortunes. Since the International Maritime Organization began collecting data on piracy more than 20 years ago, the number of incidents has steadily increased along with the explosion in international maritime trade.
Barnett has good ideas but I think he his in love with his fancy "set point and connectivity" jargon. His tone is too PC. The Islamic World and former USSR are filled with uncivilized and cunning, heartless people. Again I like his words but we need a strong Navy, Air force, Air craft carriers and Star Wars as these people will take us out when we let our guard down. Economics is only part of the answer the other part is Peace Thru Strength ala President Ronald Reagan!

I think Barnett has great ideas but they are only half baked because he is in his heart a Poli Sci guy and defers to the UN types! If you follow the stream his consciousness you end up steering away from the liberal MSM, UN Elites and Democrats. The Dems will never let his ideas be but into practice. The Islamic Jihad threat does not eminate from poverty but fanatacism. Osama bin Laden was a multimillionaire, educated, globalized and well connected man before he got fanatical.

Barnett has fallen in love with his work and votes for Democrats. I say lets take TPM's ideas and pack then in Semper Fi wrapping paper and stay strong. I would not want to be in a gang fight with TPM!

Nonetheless this interview/book club between Hugh Hewitt and smart TMP Barnum(oops-pun intended beacuse his votes for Democrats is Circus-like) but off the mark Barnett is very interesting and educational!
