What Caused Kennedy's Seizure?

It has been confirmed by his Physician that Ted Kennedy did not have a stroke but did have 2 separate seizures this morning while walkin his dog and complaining of not feeling well.
Dr. Larry Ronan, said in a statement released tonight. ''Preliminary tests have determined that he has not suffered a stroke and is not in any immediate danger. He's resting comfortably and watching the Red Sox game with his family.
In October 2007, the Senator underwent a surgical procedure to unclog his left Carotid Artery that was nearly completely occluded.

The doctor who operated on Kennedy said at the time that surgery is reserved for those with more than 70 percent blockage, and Kennedy had "a very high-grade blockage."

Kennedy does suffers from hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity all risk factors for an Ischemic Stroke.  He is on aspirin to help prevent an ischemic stroke.

So what caused his seizure?  Hard to tell..... One Theory is a consequence of a Brain Injury?  It is possible but it seems that Ted Kennedy did not have a Brain Injury 44 years ago when he was injuried in a plane crash which killed the pilot and an aide? This 1964 plane crash occurred after it was struck by ligtning and caused a severe back injury(crushed vertebrae), punctured lung, broken ribs and internal bleeding. So this does not seem like the cause!

From Cape Cod Today:Then-Sen. Birch Bayh, D-Ind., who was traveling with Kennedy, pulled him from the wreckage but Kennedy suffered a back injury, punctured lung, broken ribs and internal bleeding. A carotid endarterectomy, the formal name for the operation, is performed on more than 180,000 people a year to prevent a stroke.  "As part of a routine evaluation of Sen. Kennedy's back and spine, MRI studies picked up an unrelated, asymptomatic blockage in the senator's left carotid artery," said a statement from Kennedy's Washington office. "This morning, Sen. Kennedy underwent preventive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital to remove the blockage

"This morning, Senator Kennedy underwent preventive surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital to remove the blockage."
So what caused Senator Seizures?  Unless he had a mild Brain Injury in this 1964 crash that no one knows about it is difficult to know!  The fact he had 2 consecutive seizures could be a bad sign.  Here is an comprehensive treatise on the subject for those that are interested from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Strokes

In some cases, epilepsy may result from changes in non-neuronal brain cells called glia. These cells regulate concentrations of chemicals in the brain that can affect neuronal signaling.

About half of all seizures have no known cause. However, in other cases, the seizures are clearly linked to infection, trauma, or other identifiable problems.

Genetic Factors

Research suggests that genetic abnormalities may be some of the most important factors contributing to epilepsy. Some types of epilepsy have been traced to an abnormality in a specific gene. Many other types of epilepsy tend to run in families, which suggests that genes influence epilepsy. Some researchers estimate that more than 500 genes could play a role in this disorder. However, it is increasingly clear that, for many forms of epilepsy, genetic abnormalities play only a partial role, perhaps by increasing a person's susceptibility to seizures that are triggered by an environmental factor.

Several types of epilepsy have now been linked to defective genes for ion channels, the "gates" that control the flow of ions in and out of cells and regulate neuron signaling. Another gene, which is missing in people with progressive myoclonus epilepsy, codes for a protein called cystatin B. This protein regulates enzymes that break down other proteins. Another gene, which is altered in a severe form of epilepsy called LaFora's disease, has been linked to a gene that helps to break down carbohydrates.

While abnormal genes sometimes cause epilepsy, they also may influence the disorder in subtler ways. For example, one study showed that many people with epilepsy have an abnormally active version of a gene that increases resistance to drugs. This may help explain why anticonvulsant drugs do not work for some people. Genes also may control other aspects of the body's response to medications and each person's susceptibility to seizures, or seizure threshold. Abnormalities in the genes that control neuronal migration -- a critical step in brain development -- can lead to areas of misplaced or abnormally formed neurons, or dysplasia, in the brain that can cause epilepsy. In some cases, genes may contribute to development of epilepsy even in people with no family history of the disorder. These people may have a newly developed abnormality, or mutation, in an epilepsy-related gene.

Other Disorders

In many cases, epilepsy develops as a result of brain damage from other disorders. For example, brain tumors, alcoholism, and Alzheimer's disease frequently lead to epilepsy because they alter the normal workings of the brain. Strokes, heart attacks, and other conditions that deprive the brain of oxygen also can cause epilepsy in some cases. About 32 percent of all cases of newly developed epilepsy in elderly people appears to be due to cerebrovascular disease, which reduces the supply of oxygen to brain cells. Meningitis, AIDS, viral encephalitis, and other infectious diseases can lead to epilepsy, as can hydrocephalus -- a condition in which excess fluid builds up in the brain. Epilepsy also can result from intolerance to wheat gluten (also known as celiac disease), or from a parasitic infection of the brain called neurocysticercosis. Seizures may stop once these disorders are treated successfully. However, the odds of becoming seizure-free after the primary disorder is treated are uncertain and vary depending on the type of disorder, the brain region that is affected, and how much brain damage occurred prior to treatment.

Epilepsy is associated with a variety of developmental and metabolic disorders, including cerebral palsy, neurofibromatosis, pyruvate dependency, tuberous sclerosis, Landau-Kleffner syndrome, and autism. Epilepsy is just one of a set of symptoms commonly found in people with these disorders.

Head Injury

In some cases, head injury can lead to seizures or epilepsy. Safety measures such as wearing seat belts in cars and using helmets when riding a motorcycle or playing competitive sports can protect people from epilepsy and other problems that result from head injury.

Prenatal Injury and Developmental Problems

The developing brain is susceptible to many kinds of injury. Maternal infections, poor nutrition, and oxygen deficiencies are just some of the conditions that may take a toll on the brain of a developing baby. These conditions may lead to cerebral palsy, which often is associated with epilepsy, or they may cause epilepsy that is unrelated to any other disorders. About 20 percent of seizures in children are due to cerebral palsy or other neurological abnormalities. Abnormalities in genes that control development also may contribute to epilepsy. Advanced brain imaging has revealed that some cases of epilepsy that occur with no obvious cause may be associated with areas of dysplasia in the brain that probably develop before birth.

Poisoning

Seizures can result from exposure to lead, carbon monoxide, and many other poisons. They also can result from exposure to street drugs and from overdoses of antidepressants and other medications.

Seizures are often triggered by factors such as lack of sleep, alcohol consumption, stress, or hormonal changes associated with the menstrual cycle. These seizure triggers do not cause epilepsy but can provoke first seizures or cause breakthrough seizures in people who otherwise experience good seizure control with their medication. Sleep deprivation in particular is a universal and powerful trigger of seizures. For this reason, people with epilepsy should make sure to get enough sleep and should try to stay on a regular sleep schedule as much as possible. For some people, light flashing at a certain speed or the flicker of a computer monitor can trigger a seizure; this problem is called photosensitive epilepsy. Smoking cigarettes also can trigger seizures. The nicotine in cigarettes acts on receptors for the excitatory neurotransmitter acetylcholine in the brain, which increases neuronal firing. Seizures are not triggered by sexual activity except in very rare instances.

What Are the Different Kinds of Seizures?

Doctors have described more than 30 different types of seizures. Seizures are divided into two major categories -- focal seizures and generalized seizures. However, there are many different types of seizures in each of these categories.

Focal Seizures

Focal seizures, also called partial seizures, occur in just one part of the brain. About 60 percent of people with epilepsy have focal seizures. These seizures are frequently described by the area of the brain in which they originate. For example, someone might be diagnosed with focal frontal lobe seizures.

In a simple focal seizure, the person will remain conscious but experience unusual feelings or sensations that can take many forms. The person may experience sudden and unexplainable feelings of joy, anger, sadness, or nausea. He or she also may hear, smell, taste, see, or feel things that are not real.

In a complex focal seizure, the person has a change in or loss of consciousness. His or her consciousness may be altered, producing a dreamlike experience. People having a complex focal seizure may display strange, repetitious behaviors such as blinks, twitches, mouth movements, or even walking in a circle. These repetitious movements are called automatisms. More complicated actions, which may seem purposeful, can also occur involuntarily. Patients may also continue activities they started before the seizure began, such as washing dishes in a repetitive, unproductive fashion. These seizures usually last just a few seconds.

Some people with focal seizures, especially complex focal seizures, may experience auras -- unusual sensations that warn of an impending seizure. These auras are actually simple focal seizures in which the person maintains consciousness. The symptoms an individual person has, and the progression of those symptoms, tend to be stereotyped, or similar every time.

The symptoms of focal seizures can easily be confused with other disorders. For instance, the dreamlike perceptions associated with a complex focal seizure may be misdiagnosed as migraine headaches, which also may cause a dreamlike state. The strange behavior and sensations caused by focal seizures also can be istaken for symptoms of narcolepsy, fainting, or even mental illness. It may take many tests and careful monitoring by an experienced physician to tell the difference between epilepsy and other disorders.

Generalized Seizures

Generalized seizures are a result of abnormal neuronal activity on both sides of the brain. These seizures may cause loss of consciousness, falls, or massive muscle spasms.

There are many kinds of generalized seizures. In absence seizures, the person may appear to be staring into space and/or have jerking or twitching muscles. These seizures are sometimes referred to as petit mal seizures, which is an older term. Tonic seizures cause stiffening of muscles of the body, generally those in the back, legs, and arms. Clonic seizures cause repeated jerking movements of muscles on both sides of the body. Myoclonic seizures cause jerks or twitches of the upper body, arms, or legs. Atonic seizures cause a loss of normal muscle tone. The affected person will fall down or may drop his or her head involuntarily. Tonic-clonic seizures cause a mixture of symptoms, including stiffening of the body and repeated jerks of the arms and/or legs as well as loss of consciousness. Tonic-clonic seizures are sometimes referred to by an older term: grand mal seizures.

Not all seizures can be easily defined as either focal or generalized. Some people have seizures that begin as focal seizures but then spread to the entire brain. Other people may have both types of seizures but with no clear pattern.

Society's lack of understanding about the many different types of seizures is one of the biggest problems for people with epilepsy. People who witness a non-convulsive seizure often find it difficult to understand that behavior which looks deliberate is not under the person's control. In some cases, this has led to the affected person being arrested or admitted to a psychiatric hospital. To combat these problems, people everywhere need to understand the many different types of seizures and how they may appear.

What Are the Different Kinds of Epilepsy?

Just as there are many different kinds of seizures, there are many different kinds of epilepsy. Doctors have identified hundreds of different epilepsy syndromes -- disorders characterized by a specific set of symptoms that include epilepsy. Some of these syndromes appear to be hereditary. For other syndromes, the cause is unknown. Epilepsy syndromes are frequently described by their symptoms or by where in the brain they originate. People should discuss the implications of their type of epilepsy with their doctors to understand the full range of symptoms, the possible treatments, and the prognosis.

People with absence epilepsy have repeated absence seizures that cause momentary lapses of consciousness. These seizures almost always begin in childhood or adolescence, and they tend to run in families, suggesting that they may be at least partially due to a defective gene or genes. Some people with absence seizures have purposeless movements during their seizures, such as a jerking arm or rapidly blinking eyes. Others have no noticeable symptoms except for brief times when they are "out of it." Immediately after a seizure, the person can resume whatever he or she was doing. However, these seizures may occur so frequently that the person cannot concentrate in school or other situations. Childhood absence epilepsy usually stops when the child reaches puberty. Absence seizures usually have no lasting effect on intelligence or other brain functions.

Temporal lobe epilepsy, or TLE, is the most common epilepsy syndrome with focal seizures. These seizures are often associated with auras. TLE often begins in childhood. Research has shown that repeated temporal lobe seizures can cause a brain structure called the hippocampus to shrink over time. The hippocampus is important for memory and learning. While it may take years of temporal lobe seizures for measurable hippocampal damage to occur, this finding underlines the need to treat TLE early and as effectively as possible.

Neocortical epilepsy is characterized by seizures that originate from the brain's cortex, or outer layer. The seizures can be either focal or generalized. They may include strange sensations, visual hallucinations, emotional changes, muscle spasms, convulsions, and a variety of other symptoms, depending on where in the brain the seizures originate.

There are many other types of epilepsy, each with its own characteristic set of symptoms. Many of these, including Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Rasmussen's encephalitis, begin in childhood. Children with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome have severe epilepsy with several different types of seizures, including atonic seizures, which cause sudden falls and are also called drop attacks. This severe form of epilepsy can be very difficult to treat effectively. Rasmussen's encephalitis is a progressive type of epilepsy in which half of the brain shows continual inflammation. It sometimes is treated with a radical surgical procedure called hemispherectomy (see the section on Surgery). Some childhood epilepsy syndromes, such as childhood absence epilepsy, tend to go into remission or stop entirely during adolescence, whereas other syndromes such as juvenile myoclonic epilepsy and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome are usually present for life once they develop. Seizure syndromes do not always appear in childhood, however.

Epilepsy syndromes that are easily treated, do not seem to impair cognitive functions or development, and usually stop spontaneously are often described as benign. Benign epilepsy syndromes include benign infantile encephalopathy and benign neonatal convulsions. Other syndromes, such as early myoclonic encephalopathy, include neurological and developmental problems. However, these problems may be caused by underlying neurodegenerative processes rather than by the seizures. Epilepsy syndromes in which the seizures and/or the person's cognitive abilities get worse over time are called progressive epilepsy.

Several types of epilepsy begin in infancy. The most common type of infantile epilepsy is infantile spasms, clusters of seizures that usually begin before the age of 6 months. During these seizures the infant may bend and cry out. Anticonvulsant drugs often do not work for infantile spasms, but the seizures can be treated with ACTH (adrenocorticotropic hormone) or prednisone.

When Are Seizures Not Epilepsy?

While any seizure is cause for concern, having a seizure does not by itself mean a person has epilepsy. First seizures, febrile seizures, nonepileptic events, and eclampsia are examples of seizures that may not be associated with epilepsy.

First Seizures

Many people have a single seizure at some point in their lives. Often these seizures occur in reaction to anesthesia or a strong drug, but they also may be unprovoked, meaning that they occur without any obvious triggering factor. Unless the person has suffered brain damage or there is a family history of epilepsy or other neurological abnormalities, these single seizures usually are not followed by additional seizures. One recent study that followed patients for an average of 8 years found that only 33 percent of people have a second seizure within 4 years after an initial seizure. People who did not have a second seizure within that time remained seizure-free for the rest of the study. For people who did have a second seizure, the risk of a third seizure was about 73 percent on average by the end of 4 years.

When someone has experienced a first seizure, the doctor will usually order an electroencephalogram, or EEG, to determine what type of seizure the person may have had and if there are any detectable abnormalities in the person's brain waves. Thedoctor also may order brain scans to identify abnormalities that may be visible in the brain. These tests may help the doctor decide whether or not to treat the person with antiepileptic drugs. In some cases, drug treatment after the first seizure may help prevent future seizures and epilepsy. However, the drugs also can cause detrimental side effects, so doctors prescribe them only when they feel the benefits outweigh the risks. Evidence suggests that it may be beneficial to begin anticonvulsant medication once a person has had a second seizure, as the chance of future seizures increases significantly after this occurs.

Febrile Seizures

Sometimes a child will have a seizure during the course of an illness with a high fever. These seizures are called febrile seizures (febrile is derived from the Latin word for "fever") and can be very alarming to the parents and other caregivers. In the past, doctors usually prescribed a course of anticonvulsant drugs following a febrile seizure in the hope of preventing epilepsy. However, most children who have a febrile seizure do not develop epilepsy, and long-term use of anticonvulsant drugs in children may damage the developing brain or cause other detrimental side effects. Experts at a 1980 consensus conference coordinated by the National Institutes of Health concluded that preventive treatment after a febrile seizure is generally not warranted unless certain other conditions are present: a family history of epilepsy, signs of nervous system impairment prior to the seizure, or a relatively prolonged or complicated seizure. The risk of subsequent non-febrile seizures is only 2 to 3 percent unless one of these factors is present.

Researchers have now identified several different genes that influence the risk of febrile seizures in certain families. Studying these genes may lead to new understanding of how febrile seizures occur and perhaps point to ways of preventing them.

Nonepileptic Events

Sometimes people appear to have seizures, even though their brains show no seizure activity. This type of phenomenon has various names, including nonepileptic events and pseudoseizures. Both of these terms essentially mean something that looks like a seizure but isn't one. Nonepileptic events that are psychological in origin may be referred to as psychogenic seizures. Psychogenic seizures may indicate dependence, a need for attention, avoidance of stressful situations, or specific psychiatric conditions. Some people with epilepsy have psychogenic seizures in addition to their epileptic seizures. Other people who have psychogenic seizures do not have epilepsy at all. Psychogenic seizures cannot be treated in the same way as epileptic seizures. Instead, they are often treated by mental health specialists.

Other nonepileptic events may be caused by narcolepsy, Tourette syndrome, cardiac arrythmia, and other medical conditions with symptoms that resemble seizures. Because symptoms of these disorders can look very much like epileptic seizures, they are often mistaken for epilepsy. Distinguishing between true epileptic seizures and nonepileptic events can be very difficult and requires a thorough medical assessment, careful monitoring, and knowledgeable health professionals. Improvements in brain scanning and monitoring technology may improve diagnosis of nonepileptic events in the future.

Eclampsia

Eclampsia is a life-threatening condition that can develop in pregnant women. Its symptoms include sudden elevations of blood pressure and seizures. Pregnant women who develop unexpected seizures should be rushed to a hospital immediately. Eclampsia can be treated in a hospital setting and usually does not result in additional seizures or epilepsy once the pregnancy is over.

Kennedy Seizure update

Long time Ted Kennedy political associate and apparent friend Law Professor and Political Analyst Susan Estrich has reported on FoxNews that the Senator had a Temperature and Chris Wallace said he flu like symptoms.  If these reports are accurate then perhaps he had a Seizure due to a high temperature or a viral/bacterial Encephalitis.  He'll need to undergone typical blood work to look for infection, metabolite abnormalities. An  MRI of the brain will be done to rule out a Cerebrovasuclar Accident, such as a Stroke of Hemorrhage or Tumors, and he may require a Lumbar Pucture aka Spinal Tap to rule out Meningitis/Encephalitis or other Central Nervous System disorder.  By reports it does not sound as bad as initially mentioned.  However, 2 Seizures means that the Brain Tissue is very irritated by something...high fever due to infection, tumor, bleeding, ischemia, metabolite abnormality to just name a few possibilities.  The Senator does have health problems including Hypertension, Hypercholestrolemia, history of heavy Alcohol consumption and Obesity.   My prayers go out to the Senator and his family.

Senator Kennedy & Primer Seizure/Stroke

Senator Ted Kennedy woke up today feeling ill.  First report  was that he had a Stoke.   He has risks factors for a Stroke per foxnews including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, is overwieght and removal of atherosclerotic plaque from his one of his carodtid arteries last fall. There are 2 types of stokes Hemorrhagic(bleeding type) and Ischemic type(blockage type from either a Atherosclerotic "fatty cholesterol" plaques that break off and cause a Brain Attack similar to a Heart Attack).  There is a family history of Strokes both father(Joe Sr.) and mother(Rose) had strokes(Brain Attack types) which are re due to hereditary conditions.  Additionally Senator Kennedy has been overweight for years.  He underwent an Endarterectomy in October to remove a Fatty Plaque from his one of his Carotid Arteries.

Now the Press is stating he had a seizure while walking his dog and 911 was called.  He spent 2 hours at the Cape Cod Hospital which is means that it may not have been a Stroke(Brain Attack) type because treatment for this has to be initiated with 2 hrs while block busting drug treatment known as t-PA(Tissue Plasmogen Activator).

  • Fibrinolytic therapy(Thrombus-fatty plaque-and Emolic-Clot busting): Intravenous t-PA for appropriate patients within 3 hours from symptom onset remains a Class I recommendation by the American Stroke Association. A recent re-analysis of the original NINDS data reaffirmed the original findings. Similarly, a meta-analysis of published t-PA use demonstrated efficacy and safety comparable to that of the original NINDS trial.1 See Stroke Team Creation and Management

Causes of Seizures in addition to an Ischemic "Brain Attack" type Stroke are listed below.  Seizures are not a good pronosticator given Senator Kennedy's age.

Stroke is characterized by the sudden loss of blood circulation to an area of the brain, resulting in a corresponding loss of neurologic function. Also called cerebrovascular accident or stroke syndrome, stroke is a nonspecific term encompassing a heterogeneous group of pathophysiologic causes, including thrombosis, embolism, and hemorrhage.

Strokes currently are broadly classified as either hemorrhagic or ischemic. Acute ischemic stroke refers to strokes caused by thrombosis or embolism and accounts for 85% of all strokes.

Approximately 705,000 strokes occur each year, including both new and recurrent cases. Of these strokes, approximately 625,000 are ischemic strokes.  Currently, more than 4.4 million people in the United States are stroke survivors.

Mortality/Morbidity

  • Stroke is the third leading cause of death in the United States (60.2 per 100,000), following cardiac and cancer-related deaths. Approximately 29% of patients die within 1 year following a stroke; this percentage rises in patients older than 65 years. Worldwide in 1990, more than 4.3 million people died of cerebrovascular disorders.
  • Stroke is the leading cause of disability in the United States; 31% of stroke survivors assistance with daily living, 20% need some type of assistance for walking, and 16% require admission to a long-term care facility. Furthermore, at least one third of stroke survivors have depression as well as many of their care providers.
  • The direct costs (ie, treatment) and indirect costs (ie, lost productivity) of stroke in the United States are approximately $43 billion/year.

Causes of Seizures from Emedicne.com

Epileptic seizures area  manifestation of neurologic or metabolic diseases. Epileptic seizures have many causes, including a genetic predisposition for certain seizures, head trauma, stroke, brain tumors, alcohol or drug withdrawal, and other conditions. Epilepsy is a medical condition with recurrent, unprovoked seizures. Therefore, repeated seizures due to alcohol withdrawal are not epilepsy. The causes of most epileptic syndromes are described in several articles of the eMedicine journal, such as those listed below.

Seizures are paroxysmal manifestations of the electrical properties of the cerebral cortex. A seizure results when a sudden imbalance occurs between the excitatory and inhibitory forces within the network of cortical neurons in favor of a sudden-onset net excitation. If the affected cortical network is in the visual cortex, the clinical manifestations are visual phenomena. Other affected areas of primary cortex give rise to sensory, gustatory, or motor manifestations. The pathophysiology of partial-onset seizures differs from the mechanisms underlying generalized-onset seizures. Overall, cellular excitability is increased, but the mechanisms of synchronization appear to substantially differ and are therefore discussed separately.

Analysis of Homos vs Heteros

How do Homosexual Couples Compare to Heterosexual? An Analysis  from Lifesitenews Despite homosexuals' claim that their relationships last equally long as married heterosexuals, "research, however, indicates that male homosexual relationships last only a fraction of the length of most marriages."

  • While almost 58 percent of married heterosexuals were still married after 20 years, a survey of same-sex couples found that "only 15 percent describe their current relationship as having lasted twelve years or longer, with five percent lasting more than twenty years." Also, a Netherlands study related that the 'duration of steady partnerships' was typically no more than 1.5 years.

  • Married heterosexuals consistently reported that men remained faithful at least 75 percent of the time, and women at least 85 percent of the time. On the other hand, research revealed that it was not uncommon for "the average male homosexual" to have "hundreds of sex partners in his lifetime." Also, a Dutch study found that "men with a steady partner had an average of eight sexual partners per year."

  • "extremely low rate of sexual fidelity among homosexual men dramatically contrasts with the high rate of fidelity among married heterosexuals."
The California Supreme Court has turned the usurped the Founding Fathers' concept of a Representative Republic on its head.  The Electorate of California had voted 61% to 39% aganist Homosexual Marriage in 2000, but the Judicial Lords of the land have ignored the will of the majority.  Beginning in 2000 Twenty states had considered such ballot measures, and 20 states had approved them, all by wide margins. The gay marriage bans were passed with an average of 71 percent approval.

The California Justices struck down the state's 1977 one-man, one-woman marriage law, as well as a similar, voter-approved law that passed with 61 percent in 2000.
For Homosexuals a win that few will exercise and for civilized society a loss.  The Founding Fathers would not be happy if they were here.

Only 5% of Gays "legally" marry in Canada!

Interesting statistic from Canada on Same Sex Marriage where it was Legalized in 2003. I think this is an interesting talking point!

from LifeSiteNews.com according to Calgary Bishop Fred Henry.

  • It is significant to note that 18 months after same-sex "marriage" arrived in Canada (principally as a result of court decisions in Ontario and British Columbia), more than 95% of adult Canadian gays have chosen to ignore their new legal right.

1st Polar Bears now True Marriage Endangered!

Judicial Fascism, Abortions, Homosexual Marriage, Nanny State hand outs and Liberal Appeasement.....The Fall of the USA is will continue like a comet until we wear sack cloth and fast. God Help us!

  • So Much for 10% Gay: New Statistics Show Homosexual Couples Represent only 0.6% of All Couples in Canada. from Lifesitenews.com

A study of homosexual men under age 30 in Amsterdam, sponsored by the Dutch AIDS project and published in AIDS 2003, found that single men acquire 22 casual partners a year, men with a steady partner acquire eight casual partners a year, and "steady partnerships" last an average of 18 months. In a book published in 1996 and entitled Virtually Normal, Andrew Sullivan argues that stable homosexual couples have a "need for extramarital outlets".

  • From Defining a Higher Law
    • Argument: "Same-sex 'marriage' does not threaten traditional marriage. They can coexist side by side."
    •
    • Answer: "It is said that vice asks for nothing more that to sit next to virtue.  When vice is allowed to peacefully coexist with virtue, the later is corrupted.  Virtue is only integral as along as it virgously combats its opposite.
    • Same-sex 'marriage' destroys the integrity of true marriage by turning traditional marriage into a species within the marriage genus.  This broad marriage genus would supposedly encompass traditional marriage, homosexual or heterosexual unions, and whatever other bizarre new relationships might arise.  This new marriage genus, however, is not marriage.
    • Marriage is the permanent, sacred bond uniting a man and woman who desire to constitute a family and face life's trials together.  Marriage entails selfless dedication, devotion and sacrifice.  Marriage and the family are sacred institutions that foster the common good of society.
    • The legalization of same-sex 'marriage' and it placement on an equal footing with traditional marriage subverts and destroys the latter.  When public authority and society in general deny true marriage's uniqueness and irreplaceable contribution to the common good, and when individuals can find its legal incentives and rewards more easily in counterfeits, then true marriage is on the road to extinction."

It is not the Polar Bear but True Marriage between a Man and a Woman which should be put on the Endangered Specices List!

When the traditional beliefs of a nation erode, the nation dies!  Add to this Judicial Fascism, Abortions, Homosexual Marriage, Nanny State hand outs and Liberal Appeasement the Nation needs life support....Religion provides the set of standards that govern a nation. Historian Will Durant said, "There is no significant example in history, before our time, of a society successfully maintaining moral life without the aid of religion."

Is Keith Olbermann channeling Howard Beale?

Remember the Movie "Network"?  I was a kid when I saw this movie and I had a deja vu listening to Keith 'Howard Beale' Olbermann on his MSNBC Show last night slaming America, our Soldiers while his hat of President Bush condensed into slobber during his Un-American Rant!  Keith your are more absurd than this fictional character in a movie that is 32 years old!  Read Howard Beale Olbermann's rant here . See it here.
See Howard Beale here and you decide!

Howard Beale: I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a depression. Everybody's out of work or scared of losing their job. The dollar buys a nickel's work, banks are going bust, shopkeepers keep a gun under the counter. Punks are running wild in the street and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it. We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, and we sit watching our TV's while some local newscaster tells us that today we had fifteen homicides and sixty-three violent crimes, as if that's the way it's supposed to be. We know things are bad - worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is, 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get mad! I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot - I don't want you to write to your congressman because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first you've got to get mad.
Howard Beale: [shouting] You've got to say, 'I'm a HUMAN BEING, Goddamnit! My life has VALUE!' So I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window. Open it, and stick your head out, and yell,
[shouting]
Howard Beale: 'I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!' I want you to get up right now, sit up, go to your windows, open them and stick your head out and yell - 'I'm as mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Things have got to change. But first, you've gotta get mad!... You've got to say, 'I'm as mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!' Then we'll figure out what to do about the depression and the inflation and the oil crisis. But first get up out of your chairs, open the window, stick your head out, and yell, and say it:
Howard Beale: [screaming at the top of his lungs] "I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!"

Amero-Kenyan POTUS Obama is Green Tea TOUGH!

I can not understand why Obama and Democrat Colleagues are so upset with President W when he stated the obvious about Iran to the State of Israel who is in the cross hairs of Iran?.  Last July the YouTube/CNN debate consisted of You Tuberians posing questions to the Democratic candidates via video.   Stephen Sorta of Diamond Bar, California, asked the Democrat Candidates:

In 1982, Anwar Sadat traveled to Israel, a trip that resulted in a peace agreement that has lasted ever since. In the spirit of that type of bold leadership, would you be willing to meet separately, without precondition, during the first year of your administration, in Washington or anywhere else, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba and North Korea, in order to bridge the gap that divides our countries?

Obama got the question first. He replied,

  • I would. And the reason is this, that the notion that somehow not talking to countries is punishment to them -- which has been the guiding diplomatic principle of this administration -- is ridiculous. Now, Ronald Reagan and Democratic presidents like JFK constantly spoke to Soviet Union at a time when Ronald Reagan called them an evil empire. And the reason is because they understood that we may not trust them and they may pose an extraordinary danger to this country, but we had the obligation to find areas where we can potentially move forward.

The crowd loved it and broke out with an applause. Then Senator Mrs. Bill J. Clinton took a crack at the question and she slaps Obama when  she said:

  • Well, I will not promise to meet with the leaders of these countries during my first year. I will promise a very vigorous diplomatic effort because I think it is not that you promise a meeting at that high a level before you know what the intentions are. I don't want to be used for propaganda purposes. I don't want to make a situation even worse. But I certainly agree that we need to get back to diplomacy, which has been turned into a bad word by this administration. And I will purse very vigorous diplomacy.
  • And I will use a lot of high-level presidential envoys to test the waters, to feel the way. But certainly, we're not going to just have our president meet with Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez and, you know, the president of North Korea, Iran and Syria until we know better what the way forward would be.
Now when Amero-Kenyan POTUS Barak "Barry" H. Obama is in residence at the White House he will invite Kim Jong Il, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Fidel Castro, Bashar al-Assad, and Hugo Chavez to come waltzing in to the Oval Office and Mr. O will greet these evil human beings "Howdy Gents lets have some antioxidant green tea and let me personally "Presidential-ly diplomize you!" Here is an example of his thinking.....
  • From the Obama website:
Diplomacy: Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions. Now is the time to pressure Iran directly to change their troubling behavior. Obama would offer the Iranian regime a choice. If Iran abandons its nuclear program and support for terrorism, we will offer incentives like membership in the World Trade Organization, economic investments, and a move toward normal diplomatic relations. If Iran continues its troubling behavior, we will step up our economic pressure and political isolation. Seeking this kind of comprehensive settlement with Iran is our best way to make progress.

POTUS Oh-bomb-US called Hillary 'Bush-Cheney Light'

Indeed Obama is worse than Clinton Light as Rush as coined him....  After the You Tube debate 10 MONTHS AGO Barack "Barry" O went after Clinton: Obama calls Clinton 'Bush Cheney Light'. He is POTUS Oh-Bomb-US(United States) when it comes to Terrorists especially Halocaust denier Acne Nutter-Job of Iran !  Oh-Bomb-US (that is what you are telegraphing to Iran and Jihadoterrorists)you are a liar and not ready for Prime Time let alone the Oval Office. See Barry slam Mrs. Bill C last year.

    • Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has described the Holocaust as "a myth" and suggested that Israel be moved to Europe...Ahmadinejad sparked widespread international condemnation in October when he called for Israel to be "wiped off the map."
    • Last week, he also expressed doubt about the killing by the Nazis of six million Jews during World War II, but Wednesday was the first occasion when he said in public that the Holocaust was a myth. "They have invented a myth that Jews were massacred and place this above God, religions and the prophets," Ahmadinejad said in a speech to thousands of people in the Iranian city of Zahedan...
    • "The West has given more significance to the myth of the genocide of the Jews, even more significant than God, religion, and the prophets," he said. "(It) deals very severely with those who deny this myth but does not do anything to those who deny God, religion, and the prophet."
"If you have burned the Jews, why don't you give a piece of Europe, the United States, Canada or Alaska to Israel," Ahmadinejad said.
    • "Our question is, if you have committed this huge crime, why should the innocent nation of Palestine pay for this crime?"
    • Mark Regev, spokesman for Israel's Foreign Ministry, said: "The combination of a regime with a radical agenda, together with a distorted sense of reality that is clearly indicated by the statements we heard today, put together with nuclear weapons -- I think that's a dangerous combination that no one in the international community can accept."
"What the Iranian president has shown us today is that he is clearly outside the international consensus, he is clearly outside international norms and international legitimacy, and in so doing he has shown the Iranian government for what it is -- a rogue regime opposed to peace and stability and a threat to all its neighboring countries," Regev said.
    • In addition, Ahmadinejad spoke in Zahedan about Iran's nuclear program, maintaining it will insist on its right to develop nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
"Those who themselves produce nuclear arms should not raise hue and cry against those who only want to gain access to nuclear technology for peaceful purposes," he said, according to a report from the Islamic Republic News Agency.
"Countries which have arsenals of nuclear, chemical and biological weapons which can be used against other countries at their whim and those who supplied the Baathist regime with (chemical) weapons that killed thousands of innocent Iranians ... now go to all lengths to block Iran from gaining access to peaceful nuclear technology," he said.
"We are sure they have criminal intentions, and there was never any doubt that they were piling weapons of mass destruction to be used against less powerful nations," Ahmadinejad said, according to the IRNA report.

Obama calls Clinton 'Bush-Cheney Light'
The day following the CNN/YouTube debate, Senator Clinton called Obama's willingness to meet, without precondition, with the leaders of Iran, Syria, North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba "irresponsible" and "naïve." Clinton, responding to the same question Monday, said "a vigorous diplomatic effort" with such nations is necessary, but said "you don't promise a meeting until you know the intentions. I don't want to be used for propaganda purposes and don't want to make a situation worse."

  • CONCORD, New Hampshire (CNN) — Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama left little question as to his position on diplomacy with enemy states Thursday, days after his response to a question during Monday's CNN/YouTube debate drew sharp criticism from opponent Hillary Clinton.
  • "I'm not afraid to lose the P.R. war to dictators," Obama said in a speech in Concord, New Hampshire Thursday, where he picked up an early Granite State endorsement from first-term Democratic Congressman Paul Hodes. "I'm happy to look them in the eyes and say what needs to be said… I don't want Bush-Cheney Light."
  • In a later conference call with the press, Obama continued on the topic: "Part of the Bush doctrine has been to say 'no.' You'll have to ask Senator Clinton what differentiates her position from theirs."

Obama is also a Citizen of Kenyan...Renounce it Mr. President Now!

Macdiarmid/Getty  Obama, top row, second from left, poses for a family portrait with his Kenyan relatives.

Obama should renounce his citizenship in Kenya!   Kenyan citizenship is determined by "Jus Sanguinis "(based on parentage)...
see: US State Department of State article entitled "Country Reports on Human Rights Practices" stated
at the end of this article).

Remember last February when it became apparent that McCain would win the GOP Nomination and the
New York Times dropped the bomb calling into question Senator John McCain's eligibility for the Presidency of the USA because he was born on a US Territory in Panama Canal Zone while his father, an officer in the US Navy, was stationed on a US Military Installation Naval Base in Panama Canal Zone...which was built by the USA?

Now that it looks like Barack Obama will be the Democrat Party Nominee for the office of the President of the United States of America and given the question regarding McCain's eleligibility raised by the MSM.  Now it is time for Obama renounce any other citizenship.  Even though Obama did not ask for or apply for the citizenship in Kenya and being born in our country he is eleligible according to the US Constitution he should denounce his Kenyan Citizenship.  The spirit of the constitution is to protect the POTUS from having dual loyalties. Obama ought to make it clear that he will have no allegiance to any country but the Unioted States of America!

Many foreign countries grant citizenship to people whose parents or grandparents were born there and surprise surprise Kenya is one of those countries that does.  So does Ireland, Spain, India, 15 Latin American Countries and every major country whose nationals migrate to the U.S. now allows dual citizenship except for China, South Korea and Cuba(see Barry Newman's WSJ article 12/6/2006 posted here).   I think any President of the US should  make it clear that he will have no allegiance to any country but the US.

ASSOCIATED PRESS: Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., walked yesterday with his grandmother, Sarah Hussein Obama, at his father's house in Nyongoma Kogelo village, Kenya. Obama received a hero's welcome yesterday during an emotional family reunion in his late father's hometown. Honolulu Star Bulletin

"Under the Independence Constitution of Kenya, Obama became a Kenyan citizen on December 12, 1963. He has never renounced his Kenyan citizenship. On his senate web site, Obama tap dances around his own dual nationality when discussing his father. Obama obviously knows, because his father told him, that he also held/holds Kenyan nationality.

US Position on Dual Citizenship  "Jus  Sanguinse"

1. Citizenship by Birth: Citizenship is granted due to birth within the

country. The legal term for this is "jus solis." In most cases, there are few

stipulations on citizenship being granted. Birth in the country automatically

confers citizenship regardless of the parents' citizenship or status.

In the case of U.S. citizens born abroad in a country under the principle of jus solis,

the question arises as to whether the other citizenship continues after the child has

left the country of birth. For definitive answers to questions such as this, contact

the proper embassy or the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service.

2. Citizenship by Descent: Citizenship of a nation is passed on to a child

based upon at least one of the parents being a citizen of that nation,

regardless of the child's actual country of birth. The term for this is "jus

sanguinis."

Though most countries adhere to the principle of citizenship by descent,

they differ on some factors (father's vs. mother's rights, citizenship of one or

both parents, the marital status of the parents, and others).

As a person reaches an age of maturity, continuing the condition of citizenship by

birth (jus solis) or citizenship by descent (jus sanguinis) may depend on factors

unique to the nation of that citizenship.

The Wall Street Journal recently wrote an article on Dual Citizenship.  Question is this good for America?  I do not think the POTUS should have divided loyalties! Why?  It is the highest office in the LAND!  "Allegiance" means that we promise loyalty. This allegiance represents that our loyalty will be exclusive and unrestrained and preclude any other interest especially to another country. Why? Because we are Americans and have gained our Independence from England and because America  and as Abraham Linclon said is the "Last Best Hope of Earth"! History has proved this clain as evodenced by our Civil Rights Movement, Abolish of Slavery and our defense of the World Democracy proves in War War I, WWII, Vietnam, Cold War, liberation of Kuwait and Iraq prove!  What about it Mr. Obama where is your Allegiance "Mr. President"?

Cheerleader Tim Russet pomp poms for Obama

Barack Obama got a  Hall Pass by the MSM's GOP Shark eater Tim Russert yesterday on Meet the Press.  Obama claimed he was committed to his Church and not the Reverend Wright.  Well Mr. Obama  why not explain your Church's Theology which is suspect and unlike that of any candidate to ever run for the Oval office.  Russert known for his hard hitting and penetrating questions plays Flag Football with Obama and will not go there.  Why?  The MSM is in the tank for Obama and he knew Obama could not explain his Religious beliefs and those of his Church. The not so Reverend Wright stabbed Obama in the back after Obama "white Washed" his Church's Black Liberation Theology which is Anti-American at its core yet the MSM gives him a flag football pass while not extending the same benefit of the doubt to the Mormon Mitt Romney nor the Catholic JFK on the Religion issue. Of any candidate to ever be so close to winning the White House, Obama's Religious beliefs are ones that could truly hurt America.  The MSM is so softball on this issue.....case in point Russert/Obama on Meet the Press yesterday.  Wright's message is not one that "Unites" for it is a Vengeful and Un-Christian one and Obama has been its disciple for more than 20 years....Obama's campaign has nearly been derailed by his Preacher's own words and deliberately!  Pope John the XXXIII left JFK alone in 1960 even though he was not such a good Catholic and LDS President Hinckley kept out of National Politics with regard to Romney who in the past had been liberal on Abortion. For what reason did Reverend Wright nail Obama's campaign to the Cross of Black Liberation Theology?  According to Russert is was because his feelings were hurt by Barack Obama but why not ask if it was because Obama wasn't militant enough or devoted enough to his Churches Un-Christian teachings.  Russert is not Objective and neither is the MSM when it comes to their Candidates.  Timmy Russert should just put on a cheerleading outfit, jump up and down clapping with pomp poms next time he interviews a President wannabe Obama

Keys to victory
Nov. 3: NBC News  Washington bureau chief Tim Russert cheers for President-Elect & Black Liberation Theology Candidate Barack Obama!

If Wright was not Obama's "Spiritual mentor"...Please name one?

The Russert and Obama "lets get you Elected to the Oval Office" Project on Meet the Press was eye opening in what Obama left out.  I am struck by the lengths Obama goes to indicate that Wright was only his Pastor and he joined the Church because of his commitment to Christ and that Wright had little if anything to do with his Faith Journey.  Well, the fact is that Obama did not and probably could not mention any other Pastors or leaders of the Trinity Church of Christ or the Denomination of the United Church of Christ who have impacted his faith, his life and his beliefs.  He can not mention even one by name!    It is obvious that Reverend Jeremiah Wright is the reason Obama joined the church.  Wright even stated he was Obama's Spiritual advisor and what a horrible back stabbing one he turned out to be.

The the reason Obama stuttered, Stammered and "you know-ed" his way haltingly in his speech repudiating him the other day was because Wright was his Spiritual Mentor, in effect the Pope of his religious life for over 20 years and last week he had to sever his relationship with him.  Even Oprah Winfrey left this church which is steeped in Black Liberation Theology and Anti-American Rhetoric.

Obama's professed commitment to the Church argument is not very convincing no matter how much he repeats this line.   In spite of the problems with the Pedophile Scandal in my Church I can name scores of Priests, Bishops, Lay People and Popes who have impacted my faith but Obama can't.  I find this fact very curious.

Obama words on Meet the Press with Russert

But, you know, I think that the American people understand that when I joined Trinity United Church of Christ, I was committing not to Pastor Wright, I was committing to a church and I was committing to Christ. And it is a wonderful church.  It's a member of the United Church of Christ, a denomination that dates back to the battles around abolition.

Well, my commitment, as I said, Tim, is to the church, not to a pastor.  And I think that's shared by millions of people who are going to church this morning.  You, you join a church community, and Reverend Wright helped build a wonderful church community, one that has been a pillar of good works in Chicago, and, you know, I feel a great loyalty to that church.  Reverend Wright was going to be retiring in a year, and I thought it was important for me to maintain my commitment to that church.

And I--you know, some, some of the reporting that implies that somehow he's my spiritual advisor or mentor, as he himself said, overstated things.  He was my pastor, and he built a terrific church.  I'm proud of that church.  We've got a wonderful young pastor who's there who's doing--continuing the terrific work that the church does.  And that's my commitment.  My commitments are to the values of that church, my commitment is to Christ; it's not to Reverend Wright.

Rebuttal to Obama's rationalization are his very own words about Reverend Wright in Philadelphia in March.

SEN. OBAMA:  As imperfect as he may be( Jeremiah Wright), he has been like family to me.  He strengthens my faith, officiated my wedding, and baptized my children.

I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community.  I can no more disown him than I can disown my white grandmother.

I rest my Case!

Cheers

Obama needs to give the Religion Speech Part 2 ala Romney & JFK

I have been listening to Dr. Howard Dean with Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday.  I am struck by the smoke and mirrors assertion that speaking of Reverend Wright is "Race Baiting"!  During our recent Presidential GOP Nomination Primary the Latter Day Saints/Mormon Issue had to be addressed by Gov. Mitt Romney for the benefit of the US Electorate which "feared" how his  Religious beliefs would affect a the policies of potential Mormon in the White House.  Of course, Romney's speech echoed John F. Kennedy's famous speech to the Greater Houston Ministerial Association who feared how JFK's Roman Catholic beliefs would affect his Policies. Kennedy said the following: "I believe in an America where the separation of church and state is absolute, where no Catholic prelate would tell the president — should he be Catholic — how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote..."

I think Obama will need to give the same type of Speak to the US Electorate about his Religious Beliefs especially if he gets the Nomination.  The excuse that Candidate Obama did not know the Minister of his Church as well as he thought he did is so lame and so very disconcerting that he could not figure this out after 20 minutes let alone 20 years!

Presidential Candidate Obama can you please 'plain to US Electorate how you feel about Black Liberation Theology? Start writing Senator Obama we American Voters need to know how your Religious Tenets will affect the Oval Office and Americans!

Do the Wright Thing, Rev. Right & Mo better Blues?

Do the Right Thing You do You do not even have to dig for this stuff.....I found this info regarding Obama on Wikipedia.   Reverend Wright is a Resentful man as is Michelle and Obama has been lead by the nose by these two people.  The Obamas fell in Love with each other and grew to hate America becuse they had to get student loans to go to Ivy league schools, saw Spike Lee's Do the Right Thing on their first date and received the Christ of "Black Liberation Theology" who GDs America at the not very Reverend Wright's CHURCH Trinity Church of Christ.   Not good if you wanna be President of the USA!
So 'Do the "Wright" Thing' Reverend and leave Obama alone as asked by
Spike Lee the Director, Writer and Producer of the movie I bet you loved too, Reverend!  Spike down your tongue Preacher of Christ Mr. Right or Obama is going to get Spiked by Hillary!  That'll really make the Obama's cupid "Mookie" truly sing the Mo Better Blues...Spike the Lid down Preacher Wright!

The couple's first date was to the Spike Lee movie Do the Right Thing.[11]
